My Work
Before I start on a project, I always ask myself, "What can I do to minimize my carbon footprint?" You see, I am a lover of nature first and a creative second. I desire to live in harmony with my environment. I shop at thrift stores and love hand-me downs – such treasures to be found! For me, it's important to balance creativity with mindfulness.
I am a self-taught artist, visualizing possibilities in unwanted things – retired climbing ropes, leftover house paint, broken jewelry, wire hangers, fallen leaves/branches, and a host of other “stuff”. I transform them into whatever my imagination allows. Yes, I find joy in knowing I am saving something from our overflowing landfills!
All my creations have some element of nature, reuse, repurpose, and/or recycle. My motto is..."Create with mindfulness. See the possibilities."
My Art Philosophy
What is art? To me, art is creation - a form of manifestation. It can be visible or not...and sometimes, it's just energy. What one person sees or experiences as beautiful, another person might view as hideous. Both perspectives are right; Art is in the eye of the beholder.
We encounter art all day long, even in the midst of someone's braided hair. It's all around us, especially in nature. The colors, shapes, sizes, patterns, and variations are vast!
Art speaks to us by evoking emotions. It stirs our heart and can even heal us - whether we are creating the art or experiencing it. And many times, it is perceived differently from what the artist intended...completely natural.
And what is an artist? Simply a person with ideas, someone who creates. We are all artists...in one form or another.
